Oscar Nominees In Newtown: Best Picture Films To Screen At Newtown Theatre

The sci-fi epic "Dune" will hit the big screen Thursday, with "King Richard," "Drive My Car," "Nightmare Alley," and more coming up.

NEWTOWN, PA — The historic Newtown Theatre is bringing the most lauded modern movies to the big screen in honor of the 2022 Academy Awards.

The theatre is showing a run of one-night-only Best Picture nominees. "Dune" will screen Thursday at 7:30 p.m.

"[Dune] follows a brilliant and gifted young man born into a great destiny who must travel to a dangerous planet to ensure the future of his family and his people," according to the theater's news release. "As malevolent forces explode into conflict over the planet's exclusive supply of the most precious resource in existence, only those who can conquer their own fear will survive."

The film stars beloved actors such as Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, Oscar Isaac, and Jason Momoa.

Tickets are $12 for adults, $10 for seniors and students, and $6 for Newtown Theatre members. Tickets can be purchased only at the box office right before the film, and all are general admission.
