PA State Police Cite Gym For Defying Closure Orders

Pennsylvania State Police cited a gym that reopened despite the governor's business closure orders.

HANOVER TOWNSHIP, PA — Pennsylvania State Police cited a gym that reopened despite the governor's business closure orders that were implemented to slow the spread of the coronavirus.

Troopers from the Bethlehem barracks on Monday issued two citations to the owner of SuperSets Gym in Hanover Township. Troopers had previously warned the gym it was not permitted to be open due to the closure orders, according to State Police.

Owner Ed Frack was cited for violating the administrative code and violating the Disease Control and Prevention Act of 1955, State Police said.

SuperSets is among a growing number of gyms opening up in defiance of the coronavirus stay-at-home orders. Transcend Fitness in Wrightstown Township reopened May 16 despite Bucks County remaining in the red phase of mitigation through June 5.

Transcend owner Tommy Coates told Patch he too was desperate. "We're at the point where it's shut it down and let it all go, or fight for everything we built for the last ten years," Coates said.
