Playa Bowls, Med Spa Approved By Newtown Planners

Here's what's going into that building under construction in between Nina's Waffles and Barre3.

NEWTOWN TOWNSHIP, PA — The Newtown Township Planning Commission has approved conditional use applications for two new businesses coming to the Village at Newtown Shopping Center.

Applications for Playa Bowls, a smoothie bowl shop, and La Chele, a medical spa, were approved Tuesday. The applications will now go before the Newtown Township Board of Supervisors.

Both businesses are opening in a new building in between Nina's Waffles and Barre3. The building is currently under construction as part of a major renovation project at the shopping center.

Playa Bowls is a smoothie bowl shop inspired by eateries found in surf towns. The shop originated at the Jersey Shore five years ago, and has since grown to more than 60 locations nationwide.

There is currently one Bucks County location on W. Court Street in Doylestown. You can see the Playa Bowls menu here.

La Chele offers various hair, brow, skin and body treatments. Treatments offered include Botox, lip rejuvenation, laser hair removal, "coolsculpting" fat reduction, and more.

The medical spa currently operates a location at the Union Square Complex in New Hope.
