Police Investigate Retail Theft, Stolen Packages In Newtown Township
Police also make arrest for suspected DUI and investigate several incidents of fraud.
NEWTOWN TOWNSHIP, PA — The Newtown Township Police Department reported the following incidents and arrests between Jan. 3 and Jan. 9:
January 3
- Police were dispatched to a Newtown Township residence around 6:15 p.m. for the report of packages stolen from the front porch. The investigation is ongoing.

- A Wrightstown Township business contacted police shortly after noon to report an incident of fraud. The investigation is ongoing.
January 8
- Police were dispatched to McCaffrey’s Food Markets at 3:25 p.m. to investigate a retail theft involving two female subjects. The total value of loss was $382.43.
January 9,

- At 4:45 p.m. a Newtown Township resident contacted police to report a fraud involving large transfers from their bank account. The investigation is ongoing.
- At approximately 8:40 p.m. police conducted a traffic stop on the driver of a Jeep Grand Cherokee for committing a vehicle code violation in the area of Burns Lane and Merion Drive. Upon speaking with the driver, the officer detected the odor of alcohol. The operator was unable to perform field sobriety tests satisfactorily and was placed under arrest for suspicion of driving under the influence. Charges are pending blood evidence results.
