Police Seize Narcotics, Make DUI Arrests During Traffic Stops In Newtown Twp.

Police also took several into custody on outstanding warrants and investigated additional retail thefts at a township beauty store.

NEWTOWN TOWNSHIP, PA — The Newtown Township Police Department reported the following incidents and arrests between June 13 and June 23:

June 13

  • At approximately 10:15 p.m., police conducted a traffic stop on the driver of a Ford SUV for committing a vehicle code violation in the area of the Newtown Bypass and Buck Road. As a result of the investigation, suspected narcotics and drug equipment were discovered and seized as evidence, and the driver was arrested.

  • Police responded to Ulta Beauty on South Eagle Road around 1:45 p.m. for the report of a retail theft that occurred the previous day. The total value of loss was $4,150.

June 15

  • At approximately 1:45 a.m., police conducted a traffic stop on the driver of a Chrysler sedan for committing a vehicle code violation in the area of Washington Crossing Road and Saxony Drive. As a result of the investigation, suspected narcotics and drug equipment were discovered and seized as evidence, and two men were taken into custody without incident on active warrants from the Bucks County Sheriff’s Department.
  • At approximately 3:45 a.m., police conducted a traffic stop on the driver of a Toyota Camry for committing a vehicle code violation in the area of Swamp Road and Durham Road. Upon speaking with the driver, the officer detected the odor of alcohol. The driver was unable to perform field sobriety tests satisfactorily and was placed under arrest for suspicion of driving under the influence. Charges are pending blood evidence results.
  • At approximately 10:45 p.m., police conducted a traffic stop on the driver of a Subaru Outback for committing a vehicle code violation in the area of the Newtown Bypass and Lindenhurst Road. Upon speaking with the driver, the officer detected the odor of alcohol. The driver was unable to perform field sobriety tests satisfactorily and was placed under arrest for suspicion of driving under the influence. Charges are pending blood evidence results.

June 16

  • At approximately 2:20 a.m., police conducted a traffic stop on the driver of a Hyundai sedan for committing a vehicle code violation in the area of Windy Bush Road and Pineville Road. As a result of the investigation, the driver was charged with illegally operating a motor vehicle not equipped with an ignition interlock.

June 18

  • Police were dispatched to a Newtown Township residence shortly before 6 a.m. for the report of a dispute. As a result of the investigation, a woman was taken into custody without incident on an active arrest warrant from the Bucks County Sheriff’s Department.
  • At approximately 9 p.m., police conducted a traffic stop on the driver of a Nissan SUV for committing a vehicle code violation in the area of the Newtown Bypass and Woodbourne Road. As a result of the investigation, suspected narcotics and drug equipment were discovered and seized as evidence. Charges are pending.
  • At approximately 11 p.m., police conducted a traffic stop on the driver of a Honda SUV for committing a vehicle code violation in the area of Mill Pond Road and Cherry Lane. As a result of the investigation, suspected narcotics and drug equipment were discovered and seized as evidence. A female passenger was taken into custody in connection, and the male driver was taken into custody on an active arrest warrant from the Newtown Township Police Department.

June 20

  • At approximately 3:05 a.m., police conducted a traffic stop on the driver of a Ford SUV for committing a vehicle code violation in the area of the Newtown Bypass and Woodbourne Road. As a result of the investigation, suspected narcotics and drug equipment were discovered and seized as evidence. Charges are pending.

June 23

  • Police responded to Ulta Beauty on South Eagle Road around 1 p.m. for the report of a retail theft that occurred the previous day. The total value of loss was $273.
