Primary Election Day In The Newtown Area: Who's On The Ballot
Tuesday, May 20 is Primary Election Day in Pennsylvania. Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
NEWTOWN, PA — May 20 is Primary Election day across Pennsylvania.
In the Newtown area, voters will weigh in on school board and municipal races, many of which are uncontested on Tuesday.
Races for the Council Rock School Board will play out in Regions 8 and 9 where four candidates will be vying for two open four-year seats on the school board.

In Region 8, which includes Upper Makefield voting districts 1, 2, 3 and 4, Democrat Cheryl Rickert and Republican Hedy Ranieri will be seeking to replace incumbent Democrat Yota Palli, who is not seeking re-election.
Both candidates have cross-filed, meaning their names will appear on the Republican and Democratic ballots. If one of them wins on both ballots, they'll be uncontested in November.

In Region 9, which includes Wrightstown Township and Newtown Township voting districts 1 and 2, two candidates are seeking a four-year seat on the school board.
Incumbent Democrat Nicole Khan will be facing a challenge from Republican David Espenshade. Khan has cross-filed on both the Democratic and Republican ballots. Espenshade is running only on the Republican ballot.
If Khan wins on both ballots, she'll be uncontested in November. If Khan wins on the Democratic ballot and Espenshade on the Republican ballot, they'll face each other in the November election.
All other races for borough council and township supervisor in Newtown Township, Newtown Borough, Wrighstown Township and Upper Makefield Township are uncontested on Tuesday.

Polls will open Tuesday, May 20 at 7 a.m. Voters can cast ballots up until 8 p.m.
