Proposal For Old Navy In Newtown To Be Reviewed By Zoning Board
An application for an Old Navy store at the Newtown Shopping Center will be reviewed Thursday.

NEWTOWN, PA — An application for an Old Navy store at the Newtown Shopping Center will be reviewed Thursday by the township's Zoning Hearing Board.
The shopping center is seeking impervious surface relief, parking relief, and loading berth location relief in its quest to build the 12,500-square-foot clothing store.
The store will be located in between Acme and Bed Bath & Beyond, in an area that backs up to the high school. Plus, the shopping center's plans include a 385-square-foot addition to the existing Chick-fil-A restaurant on West Road.

The application seeks relief from the parking requirement that there be 6.5 parking spaces for every 1,000-square-feet of shopping center floor area. Instead, it is proposing there be 6.12 spaces for that same floor area. The impervious service variance seeks to allow for 61.70 percent impervious surface, where 50 percent is required and 59.65 is currently existing.
The applicant is also seeking relief from the requirement that there be a dedicated loading area for the Chick-fil-A restaurant. The project will include roadway improvements to reduce traffic backups by the restaurant's drive thru as part of the project, officials have said.
