Rash Of Break-Ins At Newtown Businesses Under Investigation

A recent rash of commercial break-ins in Newtown Borough are under investigation.

NEWTOWN BOROUGH, PA — A recent rash of commercial break-ins in Newtown Borough are under investigation by local police.

On three separate occasions, someone has broken into stores in the business district by climbing through first-floor windows in the middle of the night, police said.

Borough police issued a "be on the lookout" warning after a tall man in a hooded jacket was seen fleeing the store during the most recent reported incident, which was at 1 a.m. on Jan. 23.

That break-in occurred at a store on S. State Street, police said.

Police have not released the names of the stores targeted, citing an ongoing investigation.
