Rita’s Holds 19th Annual Free Water Ice Giveaway

After a long, cold winter, is giving Newtown residents something to look forward to.

On Sunday, March 20, Rita's will celebrate the beginning of spring by offering free water ice. Everyone who visits Rita's can enjoy one free, regular size (10 oz.) cup of Italian ice in the available flavor of their choice. Rita's in Newtown is located on Swamp Road next to La Stalla.

This is the 19th annual first day of spring free ice giveaway. The celebration will run from noon to 9 p.m. at more than 550 Rita's Italian Ice locations across the country.

"To mark the start of warm weather and cool treats, Rita's is proud to once again offer a free Italian Ice to those looking to ring in spring with a taste of happiness," Rita's Chairman and CEO Jim Rudolph said in a statement.

"For 19 years we've planned this annual, free event as a way to generate excitement for the season, and to say 'thank you' to our loyal Rita's Italian ice lovers and the communities that support us year in and year out."
