Road Closures Announced In Advance Of Shamrock Shuffle In Newtown

NEWTOWN BOROUGH, PA — The Newtown Borough Police Department has announced the closure of 10 borough streets for the Shamrock Shuffle, which is scheduled to race through the borough on Saturday morning, March 15.

The run is scheduled to step off at 9 a.m. from the Newtown Borough Hall, 23 North State Street.

Temporary road closures will start two hours earlier at 7 a.m.

"If you live on the 5K Run route, please consider alternate routes and allow extra time for traveling," said police. "Local businesses will be open for business and the police department will assist as much as possible to help with traveling in Newtown. We will reopen the roads as soon as all participants are safely across the finish line."

Road Closures

  • North State Street between Washington Avenue and Greene Street will close at 7 a.m. for event setup in front of the Newtown Borough Hall
  • North State Street (Washington Avenue to Edgeboro Drive) - 8:30 a.m.
  • Greene Street (North State Street to North Congress Street) - 8:30 a.m.
  • Edgeboro Drive (North State Street to Linton Hill Road) - 8:30 a.m.
  • Frost Lane (Edgeboro Drive to North Lincoln Avenue) - 8:30 a.m.
  • Jefferson Street (North Sycamore to North Lincoln Avenue) - 8:30 a.m.
  • Liberty Street (Washington Avenue to Jefferson Street) - 8:30 a.m.
  • North Congress Street (Washington Avenue to Frost Lane) - 8:30 a.m.
  • North Chancellor Street (Washington Avenue to Frost Lane) - 8:30 a.m.
  • Federal Lane
  • Jefferson Street at North Sycamore Street (Newtown Township) - 8:30 a.m.

Parking Restrictions

  • No parking will be allowed on North State Street between Washington Avenue and Greene Street beginning at 6 a.m. for event setup.
  • No overnight parking will be allowed in the Newtown Borough Hall parking lot located at 23 North State Street.

Additional information

Any person attending the event should follow their Shamrock information packet. There will be no parking along the race route.
