Smash-And-Grab Car Break-In Reported At Village At Newtown

Police are reminding all residents to remove valuables from their cars after another smash-and-grab theft happened Thursday in Newtown.

NEWTOWN TOWNSHIP, PA — Police in Newtown Township are reminding all residents to remove valuables from their cars after a smash-and-grab car break-in was reported at the Village of Newtown Shopping Center Thursday morning.

The theft was reported at 9:30 a.m. outside the Barre 3 fitness studio on South Eagle Road, police said. The victim’s driver side window was broken and a purse was stolen.

This is the latest in a string of incidents in which thieves have targeted cars parked at area fitness centers.

On Nov. 15, Newtown Township Police were dispatched to a daycare and a gym "almost simultaneously" for reports of thefts from cars.

Several similar thefts were reported in December, including at Cornerstone Health and Fitness and Orange Theory Fitness in Doylestown.
