NEWTOWN TOWNSHIP, PA — Newtown Township Police reported the following recent activity:

September 20

Police conducted a Commercial Motor Vehicle Traffic Detail between 7:00 a.m. and 11:15 a.m. on Durham Road and Fox Hill Drive. During the detail, there were five commercial motor vehicle inspections and two warnings issued.

While on routine patrol in Wrightstown Township just before 11:30 am, an officer observed numerous damaged cereal boxes partially blocking the roadway at Penns Park Road. Another officer responded, and together they cleared the roadway of the debris.

A Newtown Township resident contacted police around 3:00 p.m. to report that he was the victim of wire fraud. The victim said his personal identification information was fraudulently used to open and max out two bank accounts. An investigation is ongoing at this time.

At approximately 4:00 p.m., a Kirkwood Drive resident contacted police to report a suspicious circumstance. According to the complainant, someone opened her gate while her dogs were outside. The dogs did not leave the yard, and no other issues were found.

A Wrightstown Township resident contacted police to report one of her show rabbits was missing out of the cage, and she believed it was stolen. The female rabbit was described as black with gray speckles and a tattooed ear. The neighbors did not see anyone or anything suspicious, and there are no leads at this time.

Shortly before 8:30 p.m., police responded to Wendy’s for the report of a juvenile disturbance. It was reported that there may be some sort of fight going on outside. Upon arrival, police observed approximately 30 to 40juveniles gathered in the parking lot. There was no obvious signs of an altercation, and police dispersed the crowd.

Police responded to Fountain Farm Lane at 8:30 pm for a report that a group of juveniles were knocking on people’s doors and running away. Police spoke to the juveniles and a parent in charge of them; the juveniles left the area without incident.

September 21

Police were dispatched to the Green Parrot around 12:30 a.m. for the report of an unwanted person outside of the business. Police made contact with the unwanted person and ensured that he left the scene in an Uber without incident.

A Newtown Township resident contacted police at 10:30 a.m. to report property damage to rocks at his residence. The complainant believes a car drove over the rocks. The damage was valued at approximately $15.

Police conducted a roving DUI detail throughout Newtown Township from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. A total of 14 traffic stops were initiated, and there was one DUI investigation. One operator was cited for possession of marijuana and released. One warning was issued.

Shortly before 7:45 p.m., police responded to Burgundy Lane for a noise complaint. According to the complainant, dirt bikes were riding through the area. Upon arrival, police searched Burgundy Lane and the surrounding area and did not hear or see anything unusual.

At approximately 8:15 p.m., police responded to the area of Brighton Place for the report of fireworks going off for the past hour. The surrounding area was searched, and no fireworks were located.

Police were dispatched to Leedom Way just before 9:00 p.m. for a noise complaint. According to the complainant, there were “drunk subjects” yelling in the street. Upon arrival, police searched the area with negative results.

September 22

At 6:30 p.m. police responded for the report of four juveniles throwing rocks off of the footbridge over the Newtown Bypass near South State Street. On scene, officers did not see anyone on the bridge. The surrounding area was checked with negative results.

September 23

Just after 3:00 p.m., police were dispatched to BB&T Bank for the report of suspicious persons. It was reported that two males tried to open an account without an address or an ID and were denied. They then went outside and weren’t leaving. Upon arrival, officer’s spoke with the two males who indicated that they were waiting for their Uber. The males left the scene without incident when their ride arrived.

Police responded to the Newtown Bypass in the area of Woodbourne Road for the report of a ladder creating a hazardous condition in the roadway. Once located, the ladder was moved to the side of the road.

September 24

At approximately 10:15 a.m., a Newtown Township resident contacted police to report a parakeet that he found in the area of Commonwealth Drive. He indicated that he would hold onto it for the owner if one was found.

Police were notified of a retail theft at Acme Market of approximately $17 worth of food from the Hot Bar. An investigation is underway.

At 5:45 pm police responded to the new construction site located next to the Wells Fargo on South Eagle Road for the report of males skate boarding inside of the barriers. On scene, police located three males and advised them to leave. They complied.

September 25

Police were dispatched to Mud Road at 1:00 a.m. for a noise complaint. It was reported that loud music was playing out of a garage. Police made contact with a resident, who indicated he would turn the music off.

September 26

Police were dispatched to Swamp Road just after 8:30 a.m. for the report of a hazardous condition. Dispatch advised that an unknown truck driver had spilled stone onto the roadway. On scene, police provided traffic control while a quarry cleaning crew cleared the debris.

Patrol responded to Buttercup Lane for the report of a suspicious circumstance. Dispatch advised that a small girl’s bicycle was on the side of the roadway, and the reporting party was concerned because no one was around it. On scene, patrol spoke with several residents in the neighborhood and determined that the bicycle had been there for some time. The bicycle was transported to headquarters.

At 9:15 pm police responded to Devon Road for the report of a suspicious circumstance. A resident reported that she could hear someone trying to open her front door. Upon arrival, police searched the area with negative results.
