Wellness Center Brings Community Acupuncture To Newtown
The Wellnest Bucks County is one of the only community acupuncture providers in suburban Philadelphia to offer the community-based model.

NEWTOWN, PA — Wellnest Bucks County, a holistic wellness center in Newtown, is adding community acupuncture to its services.
With the addition, the center becomes one of the first providers in suburban Philadelphia to offer a group model designed to make the ancient healing practice more accessible and affordable for everyone. The service will be available beginning this week.
According to Wellnest, community acupuncture takes place in a shared space where multiple participants receive care simultaneously. In addition to reducing costs, evidence suggests that the group environment may enhance acupuncture’s therapeutic benefits, mitigating potential client anxiety and tapping into the power of collective relaxation.

“At The Wellnest Bucks County, our goal is to make it possible for everyone to experience the healing benefits of natural, energy-based therapies,” said Karen Arnone, owner and founder. “Community acupuncture advances that mission, and we are thrilled to connect our neighbors with Rachel’s knowledgeable and passionate service.”
The Wellnest Bucks County provided a perfect opportunity for Shusterman to grow her practice in a dedicated, thoughtfully designed space. She added, “This collaboration just felt like fate. Karen is so forward thinking in her approach to wellness, and we cannot wait to introduce Bucks County to the accessibility and impact of our group healing practices.”
How does community acupuncture work?
The Wellnest Bucks County has space to seat up to six patients simultaneously. Every participant will have a personalized intake session before entering a soothing environment that is complete with zero-gravity lounge chairs, music and salt lamps. Patients may choose the duration of their sessions, which typically last between 20 minutes and one hour. During that time, Shusterman will observe and adjust each treatment as needed while the group relaxes and heals together.
What does community acupuncture cost?
Affordability and accessibility are the primary objectives of the community acupuncture model. The Wellnest Bucks County will offer the service on a sliding scale of $30 to $60 per session, with a one-time fee of $15 for new patients. By comparison, the average cost for an individual acupuncture session in the Philadelphia area can exceed $100. The cost savings may enable individuals to receive more frequent treatments, which can increase benefits and be especially impactful for individuals facing chronic conditions.
When can I get community acupuncture?
Arnone and Shusterman agree that no one should have to choose between work, family and wellness, so The Wellnest Bucks County aims to accommodate a wide range of client schedules. Appointments are available on a rolling basis. Sessions initially will be available between 2:00 PM and 7:00 PM on Thursdays, with plans to expand service to multiple days.
Who should get community acupuncture?
Community acupuncture provides the same benefits as traditional acupuncture, with the additional advantages of a shared, supportive environment. The World Health Organization recognizes acupuncture as an effective treatment for a wide range of common health concerns, including mental health, digestive issues, pain management, men and women’s health, immune support, dermatological concerns and more.
Community acupuncture joins The Wellnest Bucks County’s existing services, which include The Harmonic Egg, an innovative, resonant chamber designed to reset the nervous system through light and sound therapy. For more information or to schedule an appointment, visit www.thewellnestbucks.com .
