KING OF PRUSSIA —Church Road is closed between Henderson Road and Brandenburg Way in Upper Merion Township, Montgomery County, due to a sinkhole, PennDOT reported this morning.
Crews are at the scene and barriers have been closed at Church and Henderson roads along an industrial area of Upper Merion Township.

PennDOT engineers are accessing the situation and developing a plan to repair the roadway.

Motorists are being directed to use Henderson Road and South Gulph Road. Local access is maintained for residents and businesses.

Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling near the work area because backups and delays will occur.

Church Road was previously closed in fall 2021 due to a sinkhole.

Sinkholes are common in eastern Mongomery County due to a large concentration of limestone. When a large concentration of acidic water erodes the soil above limestone rock, sections of the rock are washed away, causing a the hole.
