Code Blue Cold Weather Emergency Declared In Montgomery County
Dangerously frigid temperatures are sweeping through the region.
NORRISTOWN, PA — Montgomery County has declared a Code Blue Cold Weather emergency Monday as dangerously frigid temperatures move into the region.
The Code Blue is in place from 8 p.m. on Monday through 8 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 12.
In parts of Montgomery County, temperatures will drop into the mid-20s on Monday night, with breezes up to 15 miles per hour, the National Weather Service said.

Tuesday night will bring a low of just over 30 degrees, sustained winds of 25 miles per hour, and gusts up to 40 miles per hour, forecasters said.
The wind chill could become extremely low on both of the next two nights, and it could pose a significant risk to unprepared individuals as it marks the first cold blast of the season.

A Code Blue declaration allows the county to marshal additional resources for residents. If you know of someone who needs emergency shelter, call the Your Way Home Call Center at 610-278-3522.
The county offered the following tips to residents:
- Check on elderly friends and neighbors frequently to ensure that their homes are adequately heated
- Make sure your car is winterized with antifreeze, a full tank of gas, properly inflated tires, and is stocked with an emergency kit
- Check your smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors
- Wear appropriate clothing and avoid prolonged exposure when going outdoors in winter weather
- Limit pets' time outdoors during extreme temperatures
- Report power outages directly to your utility company; do not call 9-1-1
