Combination Line Causes Geyser on Haws

Storm water and waste water combine for massive water spout in Norristown.

Norristown police are on the scene at Haws Avenue, below Washington Street, where a geyser spouting from a "combination line" is spewing waste water all over the surrounding trail and roadways.

Police blocked the intersection from vehicles at West Washington Street, but those on foot could take a closer look from the Schyulkill River Trail's nearby overpass, or venture down to ground level.

The spout has been blasting for "more than 30 minutes," according to police.

"Right now, we are trying to keep people away from it," said police.

When asked for the cause, they said that the overflow from the night's hurricane storms likely caused a back-up.

"The drains are just so packed," said police at the scene.

It was unknown when local water companies would be able to reach the intersection to repair the line or turn off supply.
