Council Awards Bids for Simmons Park Phase II
Contracts for electrical and site work were awarded to two contractors in a special meeting last night.
Norristown Municipal Council awarded bids for site and electrical work for Phase II of the Simmons Park Improvement Project in a special meeting last night at Borough Hall.
According to , a $114,840 contract for the electrical work was awarded to Miller Brothers Electrical Contractors of Conshohoken. They also awarded a $97,700 contract for additional site work to James Kenney Excavating and Paving of Collegeville.
The contracts cover lighting and wiring for the basketball courts, as well as acrylic coating and fencing and storm water management. Once work is complete, council hopes to make the basketball courts .

According to the Herald, unsuccessful bidders included Carr & Duff of Huntingdon Valley ($130,162) and Greg Vietri of Coatesville ($136,690) for electrical work and Landmark Construction of Warrington ($103,900) for the site work.
The project is being paid for with federal funds from a Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) and the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).
