False Alarm Triggers Courthouse Evacuation
Visitors and personnel were evacuated when a fire alarm went off shortly before noon.
The was evacuated shortly before noon today when a fire alarm was triggered in the building. Earlier reports of a possible bomb scare were incorrect.
Norristown Fire Department personnel responded to the call received at 11:48 a.m. and were on the scene in minutes. An investigation revealed someone had pulled an indoor alarm call box and fled the scene. Firemen searched the premises for signs of smoke, fire or suspicious odor, but found nothing.
By 12:15, the scene was declared safe, and visitors and personnel were allowed to return to the courthouse.
