Five Things for Wednesday, Sept. 28

Here are five things to know about life and Norristown today.

1. Harvard Realty Exchange is holding what they hope will the be first of many today from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at their office at 14 Orchard Lane in Jeffersonville. All blood will be going to local hospitals and patients, and 95.7 BEN FM will be here from noon to 2 p.m., giving out free T-shirts to all donors. Harvard Realty Exchange will provide a light lunch and beverages and be holding raffles. Call 610-329-5330 to set up an appointment.

2. The is holding an tonight from 5:30 to 7 p.m. If you have an eReader, or are you thinking of buying one and want to learn how to borrow eBooks, stop by tonight. The folks there will show you how to download and install the free software, establish an Adobe ID, activate an eReader and search the library’s digital collection.

3. Tonight from 6 to 8 p.m., is hosting the first of five parenting classes for parents of children 7 and under. The program is free and includes free child care and pizza. Classes will be held tonight, Oct. 5, 12, 19 and 26. Throughout the five class program, parents will learn techniques designed to help end misbehavior and raise safe, smart and confident children. Classes will be held in both English and Spanish.

4. The Historic Architectural Review Board meets tonight at 7 p.m. at . The HARB helps to protect the architectural and cultural heritage in the Norristown Local Historic District by considering the effects of proposed changes to building exteriors and structures and commenting on their appropriateness. You can stop by tonight to get an idea of how they're trying to help keep Norristown beautiful.
