It took 11 days for Crica Monteiro, the lead graffiti artist, to work with six others to build the 108 foot mural of Hurts and Love, according to AP.
Monteiro said she wanted to depict football "with a São Paulo touch," hence the tropical and jungle theme to the mural, and that she was inspired in her thought behind the depiction of Hurts and Love in part by Colin Kaepernick.
"When I thought about Hurts and Love up there, I thought of two Black men playing their own game and trying to win,” Monteiro told AP.
Monteiro's work was also featured by NFL Brazil, which put together a special Instagram highlight video of her progress.
The caption reads: "The most beautiful chapter in the history of the NFL in Brazil begins to be drawn."
