NORRISTOWN, PA — Montgomery County officials say that they've received more mail-in ballots than ever before in an odd-year election.

At least 88,000 mail-in ballots were cast in 2025, which features largely municipal races like school boards, mayorships, township supervisors, and borough councils.

"Breaking news on Election Night in Montgomery County, PA — Philly suburbs," Montgomery County Commissioner Neil Makhija shared at around 9:30 p.m. "We have received the highest number of mail-in ballots EVER cast in an odd-year election."

The 88,000 mail-ins cast in 2025 is a significant increase from 75,655 in 2023 and 72,861 in 2021, the two off-year elections that have been held since the pandemic vastly expanded the popularity of mail-in voting.

Details on results on the most watched races in Montgomery County, including several contentious school board contests and a number and mayoral elections, remain unclear. Only a small number of in-person precincts had reported as of 10:15 p.m., and results for most races were still chiefly from mail-in ballots.
