County not getting more supply after meeting with state
Montgomery County saw no change in its vaccine allocation this week after a meeting with the state this weekend to address how the southeastern region of the state has been shortchanged in doses.
Additionally, county leaders said that there has been no official response to the rare joint statement put out by four counties earlier this week, which called for greater transparency in the algorithm used by the state to determine these allocations. MORE.
Wait list down
The county is making its way through its massive 1A vaccine priority category, with some 137,000 registered individuals now remaining on the wait list in the 1A category.
Timeline accelerated, with key dates in March and May
The state believes they can meet President Biden's recently announced goal that would make everyone in the state eligible to receive a vaccine by May 1.
As part of that plan, the Department of Health issued an order Friday mandating that providers must schedule appointments for the entire 1A priority category — which includes everyone 65 and older — by March 28. MORE.
School employee vaccinations launch
The Montgomery County Intermediate Unit was among 28 statewide that prepared to distribute vaccine to school employees last week. Some 6,500 Pennsylvania teachers had been vaccinated as of Friday with the single-dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine. MORE.
Third site will not open this week
Montgomery County's third community vaccine clinic in Willow Grove will not open up as planned this week in Willow Grove. The county has not received enough doses to open it. Once enough doses are received, it's hoped the site can vaccinate as many as 10,000 individuals per day; 5,000 for first doses, and 5,000 for second doses. MORE.
Moving into 1B
Montgomery County police, firefighters, grocery store workers, and other essential frontline workers will be able to receive the vaccine by the end of March, officials hope. The state plans to designate its single-dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine supply for that purpose once teachers are inoculated. MORE.
