Nighttime Lane Closures On 1-476 Today and Tomorrow
Northbound lane closures are in effect tonight and tomorrow for bridge construction.

According to a release issued by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT), drivers traveling north on Interstate 476 in Montgomery County will encounter nighttime lane closures Wednesday and Thursday, July 13 and 14, for bridge construction at the Interstate 76 Interchange (Exit 16).
One of the two northbound lanes on the northbound side of I-476 will be closed at the bridge over I-76 on both nights from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning.
PennDOT also advises drivers to remain alert for slow-moving construction vehicles entering and leaving I-476”s northbound “express” lane on the southbound side of the highway between the I-76 (Exit 16) and Germantown Pike (Exit 20) interchanges. Construction crews are using the “express” lane for access to numerous work areas.

In addition, Ridge Pike motorists will encounter slowdowns and intermittent traffic stoppages between Chemical and Alan Wood roads in Plymouth Township from 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 13, to 6 a.m. Thursday, July 14, for ramp construction at the I-476 overpass.
The contractor’s schedule is contingent on the weather.

These operations are part of PennDOT’s $71.7 million project to rebuild the 3.2 miles of I-476 between the I-76 (Exit 16) and Germantown Pike (Exit 20) interchanges.
Drivers are advised to allow extra time for travel through the work area and reminded to slow to the posted 45 mph speed limit. Drivers should also remain alert for shifting traffic patterns in the work zone.
Allan A. Myers, LP, of Worcester, is the general contractor on the $71,728,383 contract that is financed entirely with federal funds.
