Norristown Man Pleads Guilty to 2010 Contract Murder

Bruce Kenneth Woods pleaded guilty to third-degree murder for the killing of 34-year old Tyree Whiting, of Philadelphia, in October of 2010.

According to The Times Herald, Bruce Kenneth Woods testified in court on Wednesday that he had intended to kill 34-year-old Tyree Whiting outside in October 2010.

Woods, 26, pleaded guilty to third-degree murder, criminal conspiracy, robbery, illegal possession of a firearm and other related charges and is facing up to 154 years in prison at sentencing.

Woods reportedly agreed with a conspirator to kill Whiting for $10,000 and, on Oct. 19, 2010, robbed him at gun point in front of Uptown's Roo House Tavern and then chased him down and shot him in the 1100 block of Swede Street. Woods admitted to standing over Whiting and shooting him several times to ensure he was dead.

Woods was picked up a day later on a parole violation. He's reportedly agreed to testify against his co-conspirator as part of a plea deal.
