Norristown Man Pleads Guilty to Shotgun Robberies

According to The Times Herald, a Norristown man pleaded guilty to robbery and criminal conspiracy for his involvement in involving a sawed-off shotgun.

According to the Herald, 22-year-old Chris Hall, of the 600 block of West Main Street pleaded guilty to robbery and criminal conspiracy on Thursday, July 12, in Judge Garrett Page's court. Hall was originally charged with 29 counts of related offenses for his involvement in two armed robberies on Thursday, Sept. 15, 2011, in which he and his accomplices reportedly used a sawed-off shotgun to accost and rob two victims in two separate incidents.

According to a story last year in Herald, Desmond Russell, 22, of Powell Street, was arrested the in connection with the same two armed robberies after a police chase that ended when his getaway car crashed into a police car and another vehicle on West Airy Street that same Thursday night.

Armed with a shotgun, Russell allegedly committed at least two robberies with two accomplices earlier that night within an hour. Police were tipped off by an anonymous 911 call reporting a man with a shotgun walking on East Airy Street.

According to the Herald, Hall was arrested on Sept. 20 after a tip that led police to his involvement in the robberies.

Sentencing for Hall was deferred and he was ordered to undergo a psychiatric evaluation.
