Norristown Police Searching for Ambulance Thief
An ambulance dashboard camera caught the thief in the act as he took the ambulance on a joyride around Norristown.

Local news station 6ABC Action News has managed to procure actual footage from Wednesday's ambulance theft, recorded by the dashboard camera in the Plymouth Community Ambulance vehicle as the thief joyrides through the streets of Norristown.
Norristown Police were searching for the vehicle late Wednesday afternoon after it was stolen from the scene of a medical emergency at the Department of Public Welfare on New Hope Street.
The thief reportedly made off with the ambulance while EMS personnel were inside the building on the call. Another ambulance had to be dispatched to the scene to replace it.

At the time, the suspect was described as a white male, but footage from the dashboard camera clearly reveals a black male behind the wheel. The suspect apparently didn't realize that cameras inside the vehicle were recording him in the act.
"The [suspect] who took the ambulance was driving with the lights activated driving through traffic, through red lights, risking a potential accident," Thomas Trojansky, Chief of Operations for Plymouth Ambulance, told Action News.

Plymouth Police reportedly found the abandoned ambulance more than half an hour later at Curren Terrace Garden Apartments off of Tremont Avenue, not far from where it had been stolen. The suspect was not found.
Anyone with information about the incident or who can identify the suspect should call the Norristown Police Department at 610-270-0977.
