PennDOT is warning drivers to never drive through flooded roads or around barricades placed by emergency responders and to slow down, allow extra travel time and expect delays.

When it’s raining or when roads are wet, drivers should reduce their speed, be certain to turn on their headlights and increase the following distance between vehicles. State law requires headlights to be turned on anytime a vehicle’s wipers are used.

PennDOT also reminds motorists they can log on to 511PA.com or call 511 from any phone to check traffic conditions on major highways before heading out.
