Plymouth Township Man Charged With Raping A Child More Than 100 Times
Daniel Barnett is in jail in lieu of $1 million bail awaiting trial on charges of raping a girl from January 1997 to December 2003.

PLYMOUTH TWP — A 38-year-old Plymouth Township man was arrested on charges of sexually assaulting a young girl more than 100 times over a six-year period, police said Tuesday.
Daniel Barnett of the 3100 block of Plymouth Rock Road is in Montgomery County Correctional Facility, Eagleville, in lieu of $1 million bail on charges of raping a girl from January 1997 to December 2003.
Barnett was arraigned on was arraigned on April 13, 2022 before District Judge Maurice Saylor on charges of rape of a child, involuntary deviant sexual intercourse with a child and related charges.

The arrest was announced by Montgomery County District Attorney Kevin R. Steele and Plymouth Township Police Chief John C. Myrsiades.
“This defendant was repeatedly sexually assaulting a very young girl for years,” Steele said in a prepared statement.

According to police:
The investigation began on March 24 when the victim, who is now 29 years old, reported to police that she was raped more than 100 times from the time she was 5 years old until when she was 9 or 10 years old by Barnett.
The abused occurred in Barnett's relative's home in Plymouth Township and the victim's home in Whitemarsh Township, according to police.
The Patch is not releasing the connection between the victim and suspect to protect the identity of the victim.
The sexual abuse began with the suspect inappropriately touching the victim's private parts over her clothes, then progressed to raping her and other types of sexual assault.
The case will be prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Karla Pisarik, a member of the Family Protection Unit.
