Remembering 9/11
Many area communities have organized memorial ceremonies to commemorate the 10th anniversary of Sept. 11.

This weekend, communities all over our area will be holding memorial services to commemorate the 10th anniversay of 9/11. Montgomery County held a memorial service earlier today at the titled "Remember the Past/Embrace the Future." You can read more about the event at The Times Herald's website here.
Here's a list of events happening this weekend:
- On Saturday, at 6pm at Sutcliff Park in Conshohocken, resdients are invited to come gather with neighbors and hear guest speakers like Montgomery County Sheriff Eileen Behr, state Rep. Mike Gerber and local clergy. At 7:30 p.m., candles spelling out 9/11/01 will be lit.
- On Sunday, at 8:30am, Lower Providence will be dedicating a new memorial in a public ceremony at the township building at 100 Parklane Drive in Eagleville. Attendees are asked to arrive early to have time to park and find a seat.
- At 1pm on Sunday, the Second Alarmers Rescue Squad will commemorate the 10th anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks with the dedication of a monument featuring a piece of steel from the World Trade Center. The monument is being installed behind the Whitpain Township Building at 960 Wentz Rd, near the future home of SARS Emergency Medical Services Facility. The ceremony will include a procession of emergency responders, remarks from dignitaries and elected officials, a 21-gun salute and a remembrance of Whitpain Firefighter John Kulick, who died in Afghanistan. - Also at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Orange County Choppers will unveil its first 9/11 commemorative Harley Davidson motorcycle at the King of Prussia Volunteer Fire Company at 170 Allendale Road in King of Prussia. Afterwards, the fire company will also dedicate a memorial made from two steel I-beams recovered from Ground Zero.
- In Valley Forge National Historical Park at 2 p.m.on Sunday the Chapel Carillonneur Dough Gefvert will perform a memorial concert.
- On Sunday at 3pm, will be hosting a presentation and concert as a memorial and reflection of 9/11 at the high school auditorium.
- The Plymouth-Whitemarsh Ministerium is holding a non-denominational service in remembrance of “those who offered themselves in selfless service 10 years ago” at 4:30 p.m. at Miles Park. The service is expected to last 30 minutes.
- At 7 p.m. on Sunday, a candlelight vigil will be held at West Conshohocken Borough Hall at 112 Ford Street.
