Stash of Guns and Ammo Found in Norristown Park
A resident stumbled across the weapons while playing baseball in McCann Park.
According to a release from the , on Tuesday, Aug. 7, a Norristown resident stumbled on a cache of guns and ammunition – some of which appear to be antiques – while he was playing baseball in McCann Park at Sandy and Ford streets. The resident reported the find to police who recovered the items and placed them into evidence.
The following items were logged into evidence by police:
- Winchester Mark I 12-gauge shotgun
- Browning Model BDA-380
- Smith & Wesson .357 Magnum (with four spent casings)
- Dwango .22 caliber revolver
- Espana revolver
- Caplock Muzzleloader pistol
- Sam Colt revolver
- Cap & Ball revolver
Also found with the weapons were additional weapon accessories and holsters, as well as various calibers of live ammunition.

Several of the guns were traced back to their previous owners, but many of the weapons were unable to be traced or had unreadable serial numbers.
