Two Norristown Women Charged with Leaving Disabled Child Home Alone

According to a report from the , two women are facing charges including endangering the welfare of a child and giving false statement to police after it was discovered the two were responsible for leaving a disabled child home alone.

Thirty two-year-old Rosario Mendoza and her mother, Maria Perez, 62, both of the 600 block of DeKalb Street, are being charged with endangering the welfare of a child, reckless endangerment and giving false statements to police after the two were found to have allegedly left Mendoza's daughter home alone for an unspecified amount of time. Perez is also being charged with conspiracy for her role in colluding with her daughter to lie to police.

Mendoza allegedly gave two statements to police in which she lied about the incident, buut reportedly gave an additional statement admitting to lying and leaving the child home alone.

The child, whose age is unknown, reportedly suffers from Cerebral Palsy and is completely dependent on care from others. The child was transported to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania and Montgomery County Children and Youth Services were notified.
