Bridgeport Man Leads Police on High-Speed Chase
According to police reports, Kenneth Jones, 26, fled from police responding to a call at Riverside Apartments yesterday.

According to reports from the , officers responded to a call of a domestic disturbance at , 104 Schuylkill Ave., Wednesday at 11:20 a.m.
Officers made contact with a male and female who had just broken up. The woman claimed that her ex-boyfriend, Kenneth Jones, of 303 Eighth St. in Bridgeport, had burglarized her apartment and stolen her television.
Officers informed Jones that they were engaged in an official investigation and asked him to identify himself. Jones allegedly identified himself as "Keith Jones" and offered additional biographical information to support his assertion. The woman overheard Jones' claim to police and identified him as Kenneth Jones.

According to police, upon being identified as Kenneth Jones, he fled from officers toward the Norristown Transportation Center parking lot. An officer pursued Jones and observed him get into a gray Dodge Durango.
The officer ordered Jones from the car and when Jones didn't comply, the officer produced his Taser and ordered him to exit the vehicle or be fired upon with the Taser. When Jones refused to comply, the officer fired through the open passenger side window.

According to police reports, Jones resisted the Taser hit and managed to start his car, reversed and sped forward, striking a parked car and nearly hitting the officer. Jones fled the scene, Taser still attached, and the officer pursued on foot, observing the Durango run a stop sign at the entrance to DeKalb Street and flee south toward Bridgeport at high speed.
Upper Merion and Bridgeport police were notified. Jones' vehicle was found soon after parked behind an apartment complex off DeKalb Street in Bridgeport. According to reports, police observed a Taser cartridge on the passenger seat of the vehicle. Police also report observing two blue plastic bags in the center console cup holder. The bags were allegedly the type used frequently to package cocaine.
Officers traced the car's registration to an apartment in the building and briefly detained Jones' brother at that apartment while searching for Jones. The suspect was eventually found hiding behind clothes in a closet in another apartment in the same complex.
A warrant check confirmed that Jones had multiple outstanding warrants in Montgomery County. A search of his person revealed a bag similar to the ones observed in his car. According to reports, the bag tested positively in the field for cocaine. An additional search of Jones' car revealed 39 similar bags, all containing a substance that tested positive for cocaine.
Jones was arrested and charged with possession and intent to deliver a controlled substance (cocaine), false identification to law enforcement, fleeing from police, reckless driving and several other offenses.
