Some of the user channels tend to post a variety of content, with a fight or two thrown in, while other users, such as "Norristown fights", seem to be aiming to populate their channel with pure, local violence, and not much else.
In a video posted two weeks ago by YouTube user "Garfield Williams," two men are captured fighting on Swede Street, before two other men a block away begin to fight someone else. The fight moves through roughly two blocks, with people off-camera cheering while others jump in momentarily to throw a punch or kick someone.
Towards the end of the video, a man in a blue hooded sweatshirt is beaten to the ground, and his head is repeatedly kicked and stomped by several assailants. When he attempts to get to his feet, a man in a red t-shirt comes from off-camera and delivers a powerful kick to the head, knocking him back to the ground.
While Garfield Williams' channel has several other fights that have been posted in the last month, the uploads posted by YouTube user "Norristown fights" primarily occur on school grounds and in the school bathroom.
In a video titled "Norristown Roit" [sic], a group of students are seen standing outside the school as several female students are arguing and yelling. A short time later, chaos breaks out as students fight each other while the crowd cheers and laughs. The fight ended a short time later after security broke it up.
In the above instance, as well as the other videos on the channel, the students seem to have no issue calling one another by name and appearing on the video. Though some fights are obviously staged, others are clearly violent assaults.
Whether or not police and school personnel are aware of these videos is currently unknown, though we have reached out to both for comment.
When we receive a statement, we will update the article to reflect their comments on the matter.
