WEATHER ALERT: More Freezing Rain in Store for Evening Commute

That slippery Monday morning commute will be followed by more ice and sleet during the evening drive home.

A slippery Monday morning commute was just the beginning for Norristown drivers.

More freezing rain is headed our way and will likely make the evening commute just as treacherous, forecasters say.

The National Weather Service, which has issued a Winter Weather Advisory through Tuesday at 6 a.m., says more freezing rain and sleet will fall in the region Monday afternoon and night.

PennDOT is warning drivers to use caution while driving Monday.

“Remember roads may look wet, however it could be black ice. Make sure to pay particular attention to bridges, overpasses and shaded areas on roadways where icy spots can form,” PennDOT said on Facebook.

Here is the hour-by-hour forecast for the region, according to the National Weather Service:

Monday: Snow, freezing rain, and sleet. High near 30. Northeast wind around 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80 percent. Total daytime ice accumulation of less than a 0.1 of an inch possible. Total daytime snow and sleet accumulation of less than 0.5 inches possible.

Monday night: Snow likely, mainly before midnight. Cloudy, with a low around 25. North wind around 11 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70 percent. New snow accumulation of less than 0.5 inches possible.

Tuesday: Mostly cloudy, with a high near 37. North wind 9 to 14 mph.
