Northampton Township celebrated its 300th anniversary in 2022. Residents also held off a Wawa superstore after a battle over several years.

NORTHAMPTON TOWNSHIP, PA —It was a time to celebrate in 2022. But that wasn't just for what the township accomplished —the cause for celebration was the township's 300th anniversary.
The township marked the official date at a township supervisors' meeting in December as officials were decked out in colonial garb and even had a cake with sparklers in honor of the big occasion.
Throughout the year, the township held 300th-anniversary festivities and had a special committee that was dedicated to planning the project of events.

Township Celebrates Its 300th Anniversary
The Northampton Township Supervisors recognized the township's 300th anniversary at its final meeting of the year by dressing in colonial garb, reading the original proclamation, then signing another one, and wheeling out a cake complete with sparklers.
No Wawa Superstore After Judge Ruling
Residents near a proposed Holland Road Wawa superstore had fought a zoning officer's decision allowing Wawa to sell gas. A Bucks judge agreed. Residents had voiced their disapproval of the proposed Wawa, as some made their thoughts clear at a 2021 meeting regarding the new location. A civil lawsuit was filed and a petition drive was launched.
Woman Killed By Friend In Holland Homicide
Over the summer, a 31-year-old woman was killed after being assaulted by her friend on Clark Court in Holland, the Northampton Township Police Department said. A Massachusetts man was charged with the crime.
Council Rock Approves Appointment Of New Superintendent
During a special meeting in June, the Council Rock School District approved a five-year contract with Andrew Sanko to become its new schools superintendent. Under the agreement, Sanko is being paid $220,000 a year to administer the 10,500-student school district.
Over the past few months, Northampton Township police have been dealing with numerous vehicle thefts throughout the township, including several expensive cars. In mid-November, three vehicles (Rolls Royce, Bentley, and a Lamborghini) were stolen from an Oxford Drive residence in the township's Ivyland section.
