5 Northampton Nonprofits To Support This Holiday Season

With the giving season nearly here, Patch readers should check out some of these local non-profit groups while considering local donations.

NORTHAMPTON TOWNSHIP, PA —If you’re like many of your Northampton neighbors, you may spend a good part of the holiday season with your credit card in hand buying gifts for family and friends. Coming up soon is a chance to give back to the local community.

Giving Tuesday, which in 2024 falls on Dec. 3, is a day dedicated to supporting nonprofit and community groups. Since 2012, nonprofits worldwide have used the Tuesday after Thanksgiving to galvanize fundraising, rally volunteers and add momentum to their causes.

Maintaining funding is a constant challenge for many nonprofits that fill gaps and meet other needs in the Northampton area.

Here are five local nonprofits to consider getting behind on Giving Tuesday:

1. Miracle League of Northampton Township: The Miracle League of Northampton Township is committed to enriching the community by providing education and social development through high quality recreational facilities and programs for individuals with special needs and their families. The league serves more than 250 individuals with disabilities across Bucks County and neighboring communities.

2. Athletes Helping Athletes: The mission of Athletes Helping Athletes is to connect local athletes with special needs with mainstream student-athletes in a spirit of friendship for their mutual benefit, inspiration and respect.

3. The Council Rock Education Foundation. The Council Rock Education Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to funding innovative educational experiences that enrich the excellent quality of a Council Rock education while bringing the community together in support of our school district.

4. The Friends of the Churchville Nature Center. The Friends of the Churchville Nature Center (FoCNC) is an educational non-profit organization that supports the Churchville Nature Center in fulfilling its mission. The organization achieves this by providing both financial support and staffing.

5. Council Rock Coalition for Healthy Youth: The Council Rock Coalition for Healthy Youth is a group of concerned community members whose mission is to mobilize and engage all sectors of the communities to work together to reduce risk behaviors of youth, helping them to reach their full potential in a healthy environment.
