Bicyclist Hospitalized After Being Struck: Northampton Twp. Police Log

NORTHAMPTON TOWNSHIP, PA — The Northampton Township Police Department reported several crimes that occurred in the area between May 2 and Sunday.

May 2

Police responded to Gelder Drive for a report of a suspicious vehicle. The vehicle had left the area by the time police arrived, and they were unable to find the car or the driver afterward.

A medical emergency was reported from Tanyard Road. It was discovered that the complainant had an active warrant out of the Bucks County Court of Common Pleas, Sheriff’s Office. The complainant was taken into custody for processing.

May 3

  • Police responded to the intersection of Routes 232 and 332 for a report of a two-vehicle accident. While stopped at a red light, one driver was struck by another driver, who was backing up in order to get into another lane. No injuries were reported.
  • A report of property damage was made from Newtown Richboro Road and Fir Drive. Police found that a PECO pole had been damaged and wires were down. A witness was not able to identify the striking vehicle. The roads were closed for safety until the wires could be removed.
  • A report of an accident involving a motor vehicle and bicycle was made from Middle Holland Road and Averstone Court. Police found the bicyclist had attempted to cross the roadway and struck a car. The driver of the car attempted to swerve to avoid the collision but was unable to. The bicyclist was taken to St. Mary’s Medical Center for treatment. Both the bicycle and vehicle sustained damage.
  • Police responded to Newtown-Richboro Road and Holland Road for a report of a two-vehicle accident. One driver was stopped for a red traffic light, being struck in the rear when another driver failed to stop. Minor damage was reported and neither vehicle required a tow. No injuries were reported.

Wednesday

  • Police responded to Almshouse Road for a report of a traffic accident; a driver attempted to pass a stationary trash truck, striking the vehicle. The striking car was towed from the scene. No injuries were reported.
  • A fraudulent Venmo transaction was reported. The complainant had been in contact with a vendor to purchase a kitten. After sending a large Venmo payment, the vendor ceased contact and no kitten was delivered. Upon contacting Venmo, the complainant was advised that there was nothing they could do.
  • A defendant turned themselves in for an arrest warrant. The defendant was processed and an additional arrest warrant for a probation violation came to light. The custody of the defendant was transferred to the Bucks County Sheriff’s Office.
  • Police responded to Bustleton Pike and Tanyard Road for a two-vehicle accident; one driver attempted to turn left onto Bustleton Pike when it struck another driver, who was traveling on Bustleton Pike. Neither vehicle required a tow and no injuries were reported.

Thursday

  • A suspicious vehicle was reported from Rotterdam West. Police spoke with the driver, who indicated they were having electrical issues with the vehicle and were waiting for family members to arrive.
  • Police responded to a two-vehicle accident on Buck Road; one driver, who was stopped in traffic, was struck by another driver in the rear, causing minor damage to both vehicles. Neither vehicle was towed and no injuries were reported.

Friday

  • A report of a dog bite was made from Spruce Drive. The complainant indicated that their dog was attacked by an unknown dog and bit multiple times, requiring surgery and stitches. The attacking dog owner contacted the complainant regarding the incident. A Township Ordinance violation has been filed.
  • Police responded to Buck Road and Rockville Road for a report of a traffic accident; one driver entered Buck Road from Rocksville Road and struck another driver. The struck driver was towed from the scene. Minor injuries were reported.

Saturday

  • Police responded to Doris Avenue for a report of a traffic accident. A driver reports that they took their eyes off the road for a moment and struck a parked car. The striking car required a tow. The parked car sustained damage and minor injuries were reported.
  • A report of live wires down across the roadway was made from Sackettsford Road. The complainant indicates a tree from his property had fallen onto the wires, exposing them on the road. DPW was contacted to barricade and shut down the roadway until the wires could be safely removed.
  • An attempted theft of a vehicle was made from Livery Drive. Police spoke with the complainant, who indicated that he received an alert from his ring camera at about 3:00 a.m. When he reviewed the recording, he noticed an unknown man entering his unlocked vehicle and then leaving the property.
  • Police responded to Tanyard & Hatboro Roads for a report of a two-vehicle accident; one driver struck another driver, who was turning left through a green traffic light onto Hatboro Road. Neither vehicle required a tow and no injuries were reported.

Sunday

  • Police responded to Crossroads Plaza for a two-vehicle accident. One driver indicates they were attempting to turn into a parking spot and collided with another driver. Minor damage was reported to both vehicles, but no injuries were reported.
