Dirt Bikes Stolen, Driver Arrested For DUI: Northampton Crime Report

Driver hurt in single vehicle motorcycle crash on Buck Road, police respond to fire call sparked by lightning strike.

NORTHAMPTON TOWNSHIP, PA — The Northampton Township Police Department reported the following incidents between May 12 and May 18:

May 12

  • Traffic Accident - Patrol responded to the 1400 block of Buck Road for a traffic accident. Unit 1 (motorcycle) was traveling southbound on Buck Road when it lost control and landed on its side. The operator sustained an injury as a result of the crash. Tow was required.

  • Traffic Accident (Deer Involved) - Patrol responded to the area of Newtown-Richboro Road and Burdsal Avenue for the report of a traffic accident. Unit 1 was traveling eastbound on Newtown-Richboro Road when a deer entered the roadway. As a result, contact was made. Tow was not required.
  • Traffic Accident - Patrol responded to the intersection on Hatboro Road and Pulinski Road for a traffic accident. Unit 1 had stopped on Pulinski Road and was turning onto Hatboro Road when it made contact with unit 2. Unit 2 was traveling southbound on Hatboro Road when the crash occurred.
  • Traffic Accident (DUI Related) - Patrol responded to the area of Newtown-Richboro Road and St. Leonard’s Road for a single vehicle traffic accident. Through investigation, the driver was taken into custody for the suspicion of driving while under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs.

May 14

  • Traffic Accident - Patrol responded to the area of Almshouse Road and Jacksonville Road for a traffic accident. Unit 1 was traveling westbound on Almshouse Road when it made a left turn onto Jacksonville Road. While doing so, Unit 1 made contact with Unit 2 which was traveling eastbound on Almshouse Road. Tow was required.

May 15

  • Theft - Patrol responded to a home in the Ivyland section of the township for a theft of dirt bikes. Once on location, contact was made with the complainant who reported dirt bikes were stolen from their property. Information was gathered and the case is assigned to detectives.

May 16

  • Wires (Fire) - Patrol responded to Elm Avenue for the report of a fire. Once on location, it had appeared that lightning had struck a home causing damage to electrical components. The Northampton Township Fire Department responded to the scene to investigate.

May 18

  • Traffic Accident (Deer Involved) - Patrol responded to the 300 block of 2nd Street Pike for a traffic accident. Unit 1 was traveling northbound on 2nd Street Pike when a deer entered the roadway. As a result, contact was made. Tow was not required.

During this tour, patrol handled 15 alarm calls, 15 abandoned 911 calls, 39 medical emergencies, eight bookings, 4 domestic disputes, 12 civil disputes, 74 traffic monitoring details and 25 crime prevention details.
