Hit-And-Runs, Fraud, And More: Northampton Twp. Police Log

These incidents and more were reported in Northampton Township. Read all about them below.

NORTHAMPTON TOWNSHIP, PA — The Northampton Township Police Department reported several crimes that occurred in the area between Monday, Feb. 14 and Sunday, Feb. 20.

Monday, Feb. 14

  • Police responded to a report of a hit and run accident on West Bristol Rd. at 2nd St. Pike; an injury was also reported. One driver went through a red light and struck another driver before fleeing the scene. The striking driver was later located and taken into custody. The struck driver was taken to the hospital to be treated for injuries.
  • Police responded to a report of a two-vehicle traffic accident on Newtown Richboro Rd. at Township Rd. One driver went through a red light and struck another driver. No injuries were reported, but both vehicles required a tow.
  • A disorderly person was reported from a business on 2nd St. Pike. Employees reported a customer becoming irate when he learned his prescriptions were not ready. Police arrived on the scene and informed the customer he is no longer welcome on the property and not to return.
  • The theft of a motor vehicle was investigated by police. The complainant reported that he picked up an acquaintance from Walgreens in Philadelphia and brought her back to his residence. While he was in the shower, the subject stole his wallet, keys, cell phone, and dark red 2011 Honda CRV. The female is described as in her 50s with long dark hair, a black puffy jacket, and black slacks.

Tuesday, Feb. 15

  • Police responded to Bustleton Pike at Upper Holland Rd. for a report of a two-vehicle accident; one driver rear-ended another. The struck driver sustained minor injuries. Neither vehicle required a tow.
  • Police responded to the 700 block of 2nd St. Pike for a report of a single-vehicle accident; one driver stated sun glare caused her to swerve off the roadway and strike a telephone pole. The driver sustained minor injuries and the vehicle required a tow.

Wednesday, Feb. 16

  • A report of a single-vehicle accident was made at the 1900 block of 2nd St. Pike.; a driver struck a deer in the roadway. There were no reported injuries and the vehicle did not require a tow.
  • Police responded to 1100 block of Holland Rd. for a report of a two-vehicle traffic accident; a driver struck another driver who was backing out of a driveway. The striking driver sustained minor injuries.
  • Police responded to Upper Holland Rd. at Chestnut Dr. for a report of a two-vehicle traffic accident; one car rear-ended another. There were no reported injuries and neither vehicle required a tow.

Thursday, Feb. 17

  • Police responded to Holland Rd. at East Holland Rd. for a report of a two-vehicle accident; one driver entered the intersection and caused a collision with another driver. There were no reported injuries and neither vehicle required a tow.
  • Police conducted a traffic stop at Middle Holland Rd. at Old Jordan Rd. for counterfeit inspection stickers. One driver was taken into custody for operating a vehicle with an ignition interlock.
  • Police responded to a residence for a report of fraud. The complainant reports she received numerous emails from “Amazon” stating her account has been compromised, followed by a phone call from an unknown subject claiming to be an agent from Amazon, who requested a debit card number so they could refund the complainant for the fraudulent purchases. The complainant supplied the debit card number, the subject stole over $3,000 from the their account.
  • Police responded to a residence for a report of fraud. The complainant reports an unknown subject contacted him about renewing software on his computer. He then provided two separate credit cards in order to receive the refund. The subject then told the complainant he would need to purchase two Netflix gift cards and provide the numbers which the complainant did. The complainant realized the subject charged his credit cards $300 instead of adding a refund to them. The complainant is now out around $700.
  • A suspect turned himself into police headquarters for a local warrant. He was processed and arraigned.
  • Police responded to a residence for a report of an assault. A subject was taken into custody and charged.

Friday, Feb. 18

  • A report of a single-vehicle traffic accident was made from Almshouse Rd. at Creekside Dr.; a driver struck a deer in the roadway. There were no reported injuries and the vehicle did not require a tow.

Saturday, Feb. 19

  • Police responded to a business off 2nd St. Pike for a report of a theft from a vehicle. The complainant reports that an unknown person stole the license plate from his vehicle. The theft was captured on camera at approximately 4:10 a.m. A camera from a separate business shows the subject arriving in a dark Toyota Camry with a New Jersey license plate around 4:06 am.
  • Police responded to Upper Holland Rd. at Bustleton Pike for a report of a two-vehicle traffic accident; one driver rear-ended another. There were no reported injuries, but Unit #1 required a tow.
  • Police responded to Tanyard Rd. at Acorn Dr. for a report of a DUI accident; a driver was backing into his driveway when the operator of another driver struck his vehicle before fleeing the scene. Police located the driver, who was taken into custody for DUI.

Sunday, Feb. 20

  • Police responded to a residence off Drexel Dr. for a report of a fire. The complainant stated the oil heater backfired and everything was fine. The complainant stated he would have the heater serviced.
