Plans For DeLorenzo's Tomato Pies In Bucks County Now In Jeopardy, Report Says

Standing between you and a delicious slice of tomato pie are permit fees and a dispute over trees.

The plans to bring DeLorenzo's Tomato Pies to Bucks County may be in jeopardy, according to a new report by the Yardley News.

The famous Trenton pizza joint, which has been lauded as one of the best in the country, has plans to open a new location in Lower Makefield at Yardley-Langhorne and Edgewood roads. However, the Yardley News reports that the issue of finalizing the plans sparked a "heated discussion" at last week's Lower Makefield Township supervisors meeting.

The formal agreement was on the agenda for a scheduled vote, however the supervisors unanimously decided to reschedule approval of the development agreement until a meeting in October.

At issue, the Yardley News reports, is permit fees and the number of replacement trees required.

A few years back, DeLorenzo's had considered Newtown for its Bucks County location. But in 2014, the restaurant abandoned its effort to open on Newtown-Yardley Road at the site of the former Newtown Veterinary Hospital. That site is now Margiotti and Kroll Pediatrics.
