Police Investigate Scam, Respond To Accidents In Northampton

Police also reported road hazards, investigated suspicious vehicles, and assisted with a disabled vehicle on Addisville Way.

NORTHAMPTON TOWNSHIP, PA — The Northampton Township Police Department reported the following incidents between Dec. 30 and Jan. 5:

December 30

  • Disabled Vehicle - Patrol observed a disabled vehicle on Hatboro Road near Virginia Drive. Contact was made with the driver who reported a nearby private tow was on their way. Tow company arrived and removed the vehicle from the roadway.

  • Lost Dog - A resident contacted police to report that their dog had gone missing while at a park off Bridgetown Pike. After a short period of time, the dog was located.

January 1

  • Suspicious Vehicle - At 1:32 a.m., patrol observed a vehicle parked to the side of the roadway on 2nd Street Pike. Contact was made with the driver inside who reported that they had pulled off to the side of the roadway to use their phone. There were no issues, and the driver did not need any assistance.

  • Traffic Accident (Deer Involved) - Patrol responded to the 300 block of Almshouse Road for a traffic accident. Unit 1 was traveling eastbound on Almshouse Road when a deer entered the roadway. As a result, contact was made. Tow was not required.
  • Road Hazard - Patrol responded to the area of Twining Ford Road for the report for a large tree down across the roadway. Once on location, patrol located the tree and the Northampton Township Public Works responded to the scene to clear the roadway.

January 3

  • Disabled Vehicle - Patrol responded to the area of Addisville Way for the report of a disabled vehicle. Once on location, contact was made with the driver who reported a mechanical issue. The vehicle was able to be relocated to a nearby parking lot.

January 4

  • Suspicious Vehicle - At 2:44 a.m., patrol observed an occupied vehicle in a parking lot on Buck Road. The businesses at the property were closed. Contact was made with the occupants who were identified. Through investigation, there did not appear to be any criminal activity, and the individuals left the area.
  • Traffic Accident - Patrol responded to the area of Almshouse Road and Hatboro Road for a traffic accident. Unit 2 was traveling westbound on Almshouse Road and was stopped in traffic. While stopped, unit 2 was struck from behind by unit 1. Tow was not required.

January 5

  • Scam - A resident contacted police to report that they had received text messages from an unknown individual demanding a payment through the “Zelle” application. The text messages had the resident’s name and home address which made them concerned. No payment was sent and information was gathered.

During this tour, patrol handled 22 alarm calls; 15 abandoned 911 calls; 39 medical emergencies; six bookings; three domestic disputes; 10 civil disputes; 57 traffic monitoring details; and 15 crime prevention details.
