2 More West Nile Virus-Carrying Mosquitos Found in North Whitehall
It was the second time this month that mosquitos tested positive for West Nile Virus, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection.

For the second time this month, two more mosquitos carrying the West Nile Virus were found Tuesday in North Whitehall, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection.
At least two mosquitos in North Whitehall tested positive for the virus on Aug. 5.
Crews from the Lehigh County West Nile Program sprayed pesticide Aug. 13 in areas of North Whitehall Township to reduce the mosquito population and reduce the risk of West Nile Virus.
At least three people in Pennsylvania, including a man from Montgomery County, have contracted West Nile Virus, according to DEP.
Lehigh and Northampton counties have both been designated as "hot zones" for West Nile this summer by the state. Certain mosquito species carry the virus, which can cause humans to contract West Nile encephalitis, an infection that can result in an inflammation of the brain.
According to the Pennsylvania Department of Health, all residents in areas where virus activity has been identified are at risk of contracting West Nile encephalitis.
