Author Michael Palmer at Parkland, Disabled Honored at LCCC This Week in North Whitehall

Here's a look at the week ahead in the North Whitehall area.

On Thursday, the Lehigh Valley Center for Independent Living will honor individuals with disabilities and organization that serve them at its 23rd annual Independent Living Celebration, “LVCIL Luau,” a Hawaiian-themed celebration at Lehigh Carbon Community College in Schnecksville. The event will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Parkland Community Library's annual Summer Celebrity event at 7 p.m. Thursday will feature an appearance by Michael Palmer, M.D. author "Political Suicide," "Oath of Office," "A Heartbeat Away", "The Last Surgeon," "The Second Opinion" and many more. Palmer will sign copies of his books, which will be available for purchase. The event will be held at Parkland High School's forum room, 2700 N. Boys and girls summer basketball camps will be held Monday to Friday. The boys camps will be held at the North Whitehall Township court, adjacent to the township building. The girls camp will be held at the Laurys Station Firehouse Park
