• Developers hope to soon break ground on 26-unit townhouse community in Olyphant (thetimes-tribune.com) — A 26-unit townhouse project called Studebaker Lofts could soon transform a long-vacant former slaughterhouse site at Hull Avenue and Ash Street in Olyphant, pending final tax-relief approval. Developers say the $5 million investment would bring new river-view rentals with garages and green space, following years of zoning battles and demolition after an arson fire. Construction could start within a week of the tax break being granted.
   

• Scranton man sentenced to up to 20 years for St. Pat's parade day shooting (thetimes-tribune.com) — An Olyphant resident has been sentenced in Lackawanna County Court to 10 to 20 years in state prison for a shooting that injured his ex-girlfriend after Scranton’s St. Patrick’s Parade. Prosecutors highlighted his prior felony record and said the stiff sentence is meant to deter repeat violent offenses while he remains under court supervision.
