1 Dead, 1 Hurt In Northeast Philadelphia Shooting: Police

Philadelphia Police said Aaron Whitfield, 25, was found dead from gunshots to his body and head inside a tow truck early Sunday night.

PHILADELPHIA — The Philadelphia Police Department's Homicide Unit is investigating a deadly shooting that happened Sunday night.

The shooting occurred at about 7:52 p.m. Sunday on the 2100 block of Knorr Street, police said.

Officers were called to the area for a report of a person with a gun and a shooting. There, they found a man, 25, suffering from gunshot wounds to his head and body in a tow truck.

That man, identified as Aaron Whitfield of the 6400 block of Clearview Street, was pronounced dead at 8 p.m.

Police said a second shooting victim, a 21-year-old woman, showed up at Jefferson Einstein Philadelphia Hospital with a gunshot to her left leg. She is in stable condition.

Fox 29 reports police said a gray or silver Honda pulled up to the area, and two armed men opened fired on the truck Whitefield was found in. According to NBC10, investigators found 15 to 20 spent shell casings at the scene and said nearby businesses were struck by gunfire.

No arrests have been made in connection with the shooting, police said.
