Here are the top stories today in Philadelphia:
- Multiple gunmen chased a 14-year-old boy, fired 36 shots at him, and left him for dead in Philadelphia on Monday afternoon. Witnesses told Philadelphia police the teen, identified Tuesday morning as Samir Jefferson, was standing on the corner of Rising Sun and Wyoming avenues in the Feltonville neighborhood around 3:30 p.m. waiting for a bus when multiple gunmen exited a vehicle, approached him, and opened fire. Jefferson later died from his gunshot wounds. (NBC 10 Philadelphia)
- The former dean of Temple University's business school was found guilty at a trial of lying about the school offering top-ranked business degree programs so that they would pay tuition and make donations to Temple. United States Attorney Jennifer Arbittier Williams said Moshe Porat, 74, who served as the dean of Temple University's Richard J. Fox School of Business and Management from 1996 until 2018, was convicted after trial on charges that he conspired and schemed to deceive the school's applicants, students, and donors. In April, Porat was charged by indictment with one count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud and one count of wire fraud. (Philadelphia Patch)
- Authorities in Philadelphia are investigating the death of two men whose bodies were found in "suspicious positions" inside a box truck parked in the northeast section of the city. The men were found at about 8 p.m. at Bustleton and Unruh avenues in Northeast Philadelphia, dead on the floor in the front of the truck. Both men were known to live inside the truck. - Golf enthusiasts looking for an indoor space to shore up their putting game can look forward to a new venue, Puttery Philadelphia, which is expected to open in the area of Olde Kensington and Fishtown next year. Drive Shack Inc., a Dallas-based company with golf facilities around the country, confirmed it will bring its Puttery concept to a development project planned at 1400 North Howard St. Puttery Philadelphia will be located inside a 78,000-square-foot space that features a trio of nine-hole putting courses. - Philadelphia firefighters rescued four people while battling two house fires within the same hour early Tuesday morning. Flames ripped through a rowhome in the city's Spring Garden section just before 1 a.m., sending occupants to the roof. About a half hour later, two people were rescued from a rowhome fire in South Philadelphia. (WPVI-TV)
