Suspect Vehicle Sought In Second Fatal Hit-And-Run Sunday: Philly Police

Police seek a white van in the hit-and-run crash that killed a cyclist. A separate crash fatally injured a 61-year-old woman, said police.

PHILADELPHIA, PA — Authorities are investigating two fatal hit-and-run crashes that took place within hours of each other in Philadelphia Sunday night.

In both cases, a pedestrian was killed. No arrests have been announced as of Monday afternoon.

A 61-year-old woman was struck at around 5:40 p.m. while walking across the street in the 600 block of Oregon Avenue in South Philadelphia (3rd District), the Philadelphia Police Department said. The SUV was speeding at the time of the crash, according to police.

The driver, who was operating a silver SUV, fled eastbound on Oregon Avenue following the crash, police told 6ABC; medics pronounced the woman dead at the scene. Police are still investigating and have not released further information on this crash as of Monday afternoon.

At around 8:30 p.m., another hit-and-run incident was reported on the 1900 block of North Howard Street in Kensington (26th District) after a male cyclist in his mid-30s was struck by a white box van that may be a Ford Econoline, police said.

The van driver fled northbound on Howard Street, police said, and released information about a possible suspect vehicle. Medics pronounced the cyclist dead at the scene shortly after.
