2 Philly Hotels Make Michelin Guide's List Of Places To Stay

The First MICHELIN Key Hotels list features two places in Philadelphia. See which hotels made the list here.

PHILADELPHIA — After four years of research, Michelin has released its list of the best hotels in the country. And two Philadelphia hotels made the cut.

"These are places that significantly add to your experience as a traveler, each vetted and judged excellent in five categories: architecture and interior design, quality and consistency of service, overall personality and character, value for the price, and a significant contribution to the guest experience in a particular setting," according to Michelin.

The hotels are issued "Keys," which are the hotel equivalent to Michelin's Stars for restaurants. This new list includes 16 Three Key hotels, 70 Two Key hotels, and 207 One Key hotels.

Here's what Michelin says about Guild House Philadelphia:

A landmark 1855 rowhome in Philadelphia’s Midtown Village is the setting for the Guild House Hotel, a boutique hotel whose 12 rooms and suites are named for 12 notable women from the house’s earlier incarnation as the proto-feminist New Century Guild. The atmosphere is residential, but this is no mere apartment share — the rooms and suites are notable not only for their eclectic, photogenic interiors, but for their comforts as well. Proper hotel service is ever-present, if unobtrusive, and while there’s no in-house restaurant, the Guild House’s concierge is your guide to the neighborhood and the greater city.

And here's what they said about The Rittenhouse Hotel:

Overlooking Rittenhouse Square in one Philadelphia’s toniest districts, this very modern 33-story high-rise gives away little about the luxurious small hotel that lies within. An elegant and charming classic, the Rittenhouse is one of the city’s most exclusive lodgings, offering not only the largest rooms in Philadelphia—each spanning some 450 to 1,700 square feet—but some of the most lavish as well, decked out in rich mahogany and vibrant fabrics and offering far-ranging views of the Square and the city.
