5-Alarm Fire At Philly Junkyard Under Control

The fire started just before 4 a.m. Monday at a junkyard in Northeast Philadelphia and reached five alarms before getting under control.

PHILADELPHIA — Philadelphia firefighters have placed a large junkyard fire under control after it began in Northeast Philadelphia Monday morning.

The fire started before 4 a.m. at a junkyard on the 6800 block of State Road in Tacony, according to the Philadelphia Fire Department.

By 5:24 a.m., the fire was raised to five alarms.

Officials said more than 60 apparatuses and more than 175 firefighters responded to the fire.

The fire was placed under control at 7:12 a.m.
