"In battles we adjust, and that is exactly what we are going to do for this year's parade," said Anthony Murphy, the parade's president.
PHILADELPHIA—After Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney announced Tuesday the cancellation of all large events through Feb. 28, 2021 due to COVID-19, organizers for the the 6th annual Philadelphia Veterans Parade & Festival said their event will now take place virtually.
The event was initially scheduled to take place in person Sunday, November 8.
While this year's event will look much different than in year's past, organizers said they still look forward to honoring the over 220,000 veterans in the region in five months.
